USDA launches historic trade mission to Angola
USAgNet - 02/27/2024

This week marks a significant milestone for U.S. agriculture as Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small leads the USDA's inaugural trade mission to Luanda, Angola.

This pioneering venture, accompanied by representatives from the Kansas and Wisconsin departments of agriculture and 16 U.S. companies, aims to fortify ties between American agribusiness and the burgeoning market in Angola and its neighboring regions.

The mission's objective is clear - To navigate and tap into the potential of Angola's market for high-quality, high-value U.S. agricultural products. The delegation is set to engage in pivotal business-to-business meetings with potential buyers, not just from Angola but also from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo.

This effort is bolstered by in-depth market briefings provided by USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service staff and trade experts, equipping participants with essential insights for crafting effective export strategies tailored to Sub-Saharan Africa.

The diverse range of U.S. food and agricultural products represented includes beef, dairy, distilled spirits, and grains, among others. This collaborative effort underscores the USDA's commitment under the Biden-Harris Administration to enhance America's food system, promote equitable markets, and advance sustainable, climate-smart agricultural practices.

Through initiatives like this trade mission, the USDA continues to work towards a more resilient and equitable global food system.
