MCA Recognizes Supporters with Legislator of Year Awards

The Missouri Cattlemen's Association recognized four with its 2019 Legislator of the Year award at the 52nd Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention. More than 700 people attended the banquet where Senator Caleb Rowden (R-19); Senator Mike Bernskoetter (R-6); Representative Elijah Haahr (R-134); and Representative Mike Haffner (R-55) were honored.
"Protecting private property rights was certainly the theme for the 2019 legislative session as it concerns this association. These four elected leaders led the charge to ensure that these rights were respected and a top priority for our state," said Jimmie Long, who chairs the MCA Policy and Legislative Affairs Committee. "These four leaders led key issues impacting Missouri farm and ranch families."
The leadership from Speaker of the House Haahr and Senate Majority Floor Leader Caleb Rowden were commended.
"Our state is in good hands to have committed leaders like these two individuals in our General Assembly," said Long. "They made time for issues impacting Missouri farm and ranch families and their efforts are not taken for granted by this association."
Sen. Bernskoetter led legislation (SB 391) to ensure regulations in agriculture were rooted in science and provided regulatory certainty for farm and ranch families. Rep. Haffner successfully carried the legislation in the House, which was ultimately signed by Governor Mike Parson.
"Our priority issues would have been dead without the leadership and commitment from Sen. Bernskoetter and Rep. Haffner. Period," said Long.
