Missouri Rice Harvest Progresses to 92 Percent

Temperatures last week averaged 52.9 degrees, 3.2 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.17 inches statewide, 0.68 inches below normal. There were 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 5 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus.

Corn matured progressed to 97 percent. Corn harvested for grain progressed to 55 percent.

Soybean coloring progressed to 96 percent this week, with soybeans dropping leaves progressing to 86 percent, 6 percentage points behind last year. Soybean harvested progressed to 26 percent this week. Soybean condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.

Cotton bolls opening progressed to 96 percent, while cotton harvested progressed to 34 percent, 45 percentage points behind last year. Cotton condition was rated at 12 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 51 percent fair, and 20 percent good.

Rice harvested progressed to 92 percent this week.

Winter wheat planted progressed to 33 percent this week, while winter wheat emerged progressed to 15 percent.
