'Eat Smart to Play Hard' Coming to Joplin
Missouri Ag Connection - 10/18/2018

"Eat Smart to Play Hard," a workshop designed for school and recreation staff will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 26 at the MSSU North End Zone Facility in Joplin.

"Movers and shakers across the state are working to create healthy environments for all. Our corner of the state has a great opportunity to learn ways to promote health and good nutrition by revitalizing traditional concession stand menus," said Lindsey Stevenson, County Engagement Specialist in Nutrition and Health, University of Missouri Extension.

Eat Smart to Play Hard helps school staff identify healthy, tasty, affordable items to add to concessions menu in order to increase concession profits, save volunteers time and energy running concessions, and help athletes, their families and fans make the healthy choice the easy choice

Workshop attendees will hear from registered and licensed dietitian, Cindy DeBlauw. Cindy serves as a State Specialist at University of Missouri Extension. She is the coordinator of the "Eat Smart Play Hard" program. These efforts seek to make healthy choices more accessible and desirable to youth, their families and the public.

This free, informative workshop will also highlight "Performance Nutrition," nutritional guidance for optimal athletic performance.

Contact Lindsey Stevenson at the Barton County University of Missouri Extension Center at 417-682-3579 for more information.
