94th Annual Ag Production Conference in Springfield
Missouri Ag Connection - 02/23/2017

The 94th Annual Agriculture Production Conference and Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Meeting is March 21 in the 2nd-floor banquet room at Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, 6821 West Independence, Springfield.

A free dinner catered by Maggie Maes begins at 5:45 p.m.

Dr. Tim Evans, associate professor at the MU Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab in Columbia, will be the featured speaker of the evening. His presentation is entitled, "If it Wasn't Lightning or Pneumonia, What Killed the Cow?"

"Attendees will find that Dr. Evans is a comedian and has earned his campus nickname as the 'Antidote' for a reason," said David Burton, county program director for Greene County MU Extension.

Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with University of Missouri Extension, will end the evening with his presentation, "Management Strategies for Dealing with Fescue Endophyte."

Along with updates from the Farm Services Agency and NRCS, the Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District will also present some annual awards.

Sponsors for this event include Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District, Legacy Bank and Trust of Rogersville, Main Street Feeds, Larson Farm and Home, FCS Financial, Old Missouri Bank, Greene County Farm Bureau, Debra Corner with Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance, Springfield Livestock Market and the Greene County Commission.

Formerly known as the Soils and Crops Conference, the conference name was changed two years ago to better reflect the topics that best address farming in Greene County.

"This conference is designed to provide research-based information and options to area agriculture producers that can help them make more informed and profitable decisions," said Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

Pre-registration is needed by March 17 to aid in meal planning.

An informational brochure can be downloaded online at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene.

Registration can be done one of two ways: on the Greene County Extension website (which is the preferred method) or by calling 417-881-8909.
