Missouri Spring Tillage 65 Percent Complete

Producers were able to make significant progress planting corn over the past week. Temperatures averaged 59.6 degrees, 1.9 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.91 inches statewide, 0.86 inches above normal. There were 4.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 15 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 17 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.

Corn planting was 46 percent complete, 32 percentage points behind the previous year but 7 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. Corn emerged progressed to 13 percent.

Soybean planting was 2 percent complete.

Cotton planting was 13 percent complete. Rice planting progressed to 65 percent complete.

Rice emerged progressed to 17 percent. Sorghum planting was 10 percent complete.

Winter wheat headed reached 56 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated 1 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 66 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.

Spring tillage is 65 percent complete compared to 56 percent for the 5-year average.
