Master Gardener Plant Sale, Straw Bale Class Approaching
Missouri Ag Connection - 04/29/2016

Christian County Master Gardeners will contact an annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., May 7, at the Nixa Meeting Event Center, 421 W. South St., Nixa (one block south of the Hwy. 14 and Hwy. 160 intersection).

Also scheduled for the same location is a straw bale gardening class 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., May 14.

The plant sale will feature annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, natives, vegetables, herbs and lawn decor. The money raised goes to support Christian County Master Gardener's scholarship and gardening projects.

For more information on the plant sale, contact Master Gardener Beth Platt, 343-6471.

The free straw bale gardening class, part of the Christian County Master Gardener's Garden Gate series, is at master gardener's demonstration garden at the Ozark Community Center, 1530 W. Jackson St., Ozark.

Master Gardener Lonnie Whiteley will teach attendees how to avoid weeding and how to use a small gardening space by planting seeds and plants in "seasoned" straw bales. Last year's straw bales successfully grew eggplants, cucumbers, and other vegetables.

Register for this free event by calling 417-581-3558.
