Jenna Bush Hager to Headline Public Affairs Conference
Missouri Ag Connection - 05/17/2018

Since leaving the White House, former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager has found her own voice and her own mission.

Bush Hager will serve as the keynote speaker at Missouri State University's fall 2018 Public Affairs Conference. She will speak at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

She is a best-selling author, contributing correspondent for NBC's Today show, chair of the United Nations Children's Fund's (UNICEF) Next Generation and editor-at-large of Southern Living Magazine.

"If you've seen her reports, you know the compassion with which she tells people's stories," said Mary Ann Wood, director of public affairs support. "She shares personal accounts of everyday people improving their communities."

The event kicks off MSU's Public Affairs Conference, scheduled from Sept. 25-27. The theme is "Unity in Community."

Thanks to the Missouri State University Foundation and presenting sponsor Northern Trust, Bush Hager's keynote is free and open to the public.

The Foundation will host a private reception and dinner with Bush Hager at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 25. Tickets are available by calling Stephanie Smith, senior director of donor relations and special events, at 417-836-4143.

Bush Hager is the author of The New York Times best seller "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope." She wrote it after traveling to Latin America with UNICEF in 2006. "Ana's Story" tells the story of a 17-year-old single mother with HIV, who struggles to shield her child from her life of abuse and neglect.

She is also co-author of The New York Times best seller "Sisters First" and two children's books "Read All About It!" and "Our Great Big Backyard." Bush Hager has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin.

She is the daughter of former U.S. President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. In 2008, she married Henry Hager. They are parents of two daughters, Margaret Laura "Mila" and Poppy Louise Hager.
