Graham Cave to Celebrate World Atlatl Day June 2
Missouri Ag Connection - 05/23/2018

Graham Cave State Park will host a World Atlatl Day celebration 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June , in the park's lower picnic area. Activities include atlatl throwing lessons and demonstrations led by members of the Missouri Atlatl Association.

After the celebration, the association will host an International Standard Accuracy Contest of atlatl throwing accuracy, along with the Moche Toss and other games. Preregistration and experience are not required to participate.

The atlatl is a hunting tool used by early Native Americans. It is a two-piece weapon featuring a long, slender spear or dart that is launched by a hand-held throwing stick.

Graham Cave State Park is located on Highway TT, two miles west of Highway 161 and the 170 Exit on I-70. For more information about the event, call Graham Cave State Park at 573-564-3476.
