95 Percent of Missouri Wheat Headed

Temperatures last week averaged 69.2 degrees, 2.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 2.08 inches statewide, 1.05 inches above normal. There were 2.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent short, 67 percent adequate, and 32 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 77 percent adequate and 23 percent surplus.

Corn planted progressed to 92 percent this week, 24 percentage points ahead of last year. Corn emerged progressed to 85 percent, 1 percentage points ahead the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 59 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.

Soybeans planted progressed to 49 percent, 33 percentage points ahead of last year, while soybeans emerged progressed to 30 percent. Soybean condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 40 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Cotton planted progressed to 45 percent this week, 25 percentage points behind last year. Cotton condition was rated at 10 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 44 percent fair, and 36 percent good.

Rice planted progressed to 83 percent, 2 percentage points ahead of last year, while rice emerged progressed to 65 percent. Rice condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 39 percent fair, 44 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.

Winter wheat headed progressed to 95 percent this week, 5 percentage points ahead of last year. Winter wheat condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 51 percent fair, 37 percent good, and 3 percent excellent.
