MDC Offers Free Alternative Fishing Methods Class
Missouri Ag Connection - 06/22/2017

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free workshop on fishing with alternative methods such as jug lines and trot lines 10 a.m. to noon on June 24 at the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center. Methods such as bow fishing and gigging will also be discussed. Jug lines and trot lines are a great way to catch channel catfish, blue catfish and flathead catfish in Missouri's lakes and rivers.

MDC's Burr Oak Woods Nature Center staff will also host a free session on how to prepare and cook catfish 1 to 3 p.m. on July 8. The catfish species are a popular Missouri game fish because they're plentiful and they make excellent table fare.

Registration is required for both workshops. For more information or to register, call 816-228-3766. For information on Burr Oak Woods Nature Center, visit http://mdc.mo.gov/burroakwoods.
