Missouri Hotter and Wetter Than Normal

Temperatures last week averaged 78.9 degrees, 2.5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.43 inches statewide, 0.41 inches above normal. There were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 17 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 11 percent short, 79 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus.

Corn silking was at 21 percent this week, 1 percentage point ahead of last year. Corn condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.

Soybeans planted progressed to 96 percent, 9 percentage points ahead of last year, while soybeans emerged progressed to 92 percent, 20 percentage points ahead of last year. Soybeans blooming progressed to 16 percent. Soybeans condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.

Cotton squaring progressed to 24 percent, 10 percentage points ahead of last year. Cotton condition was rated at 14 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 36 percent good and 1 percent excellent. Rice headed progressed to 2 percent.

Rice condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 15 percent excellent.

Winter wheat harvested for grain progressed to 86 percent this week, 15 percentage points ahead of last year.
