Main Entrance to Rockwoods Closed; Use Detour
Missouri Ag Connection - 07/13/2018

The main entrance off Highway 109 to the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Rockwoods Reservation in Wildwood is temporarily closed. Visitors must use an alternative route to reach the area's north entrance. Rockwoods Reservation itself remains open as normal.

The entrance was closed after a sinkhole opened in the middle of Glencoe Road 100 yards past the area's main gate. The road is currently impassible. MDC crews are working to repair the road as quickly as possible; however, there is no estimate on completion at this time.

To reach Rockwoods Reservation during the main entrance closure, visitors should access it by way of the north entrance off Manchester Road. Turn west from Highway 109 onto Manchester Road north of the area. Go 1.3 miles west on Manchester, and turn south onto Glencoe Road to access the area from the north entrance.

Hikers should note they will still be able to access the area's Turkey Ridge Trail parking lot across from the main entrance on the east side of Highway 109 during the closure.

Rockwoods Reservation features 1,880 acres of forested terrain and six hiking trails. To learn more about the area and the latest status of the main entrance closure, go to https://tinyurl.com/y8hkstcy.
