Missouri Row Crops Progressing Ahead of Average

There were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Precipitation averaged 0.09 inches, 0.91 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 4 percent short, 89 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.

Corn silking was 79 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 89 percent. Corn dough was 37 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 38 percent. Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 10 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming was 52 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 57 percent. Soybeans setting pods was 19 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 24 percent. Soybeans condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.

Cotton setting bolls was 52 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 38 percent. Cotton condition was rated 7 percent poor, 26 percent fair, and 67 percent good.

Rice headed was 40 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 27 percent. Rice condition was rated 2 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.
